Renowned for its remote mountain beauty and distinct culture, Ladakh was established as a union territory of India on 31 October 2019, following the passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), administered the oath of office to Shri Sudhanshu Pandey IAS (Retd) who is the first Election Commission of Ladakh after the formation of region as Union Territory Leh, in the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Niwas on Sept 23, 2023.
