The Director of Panchayat and Municipal Elections appointed by the Common Election Commission for UTs in consultation with the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands supervises the preparation of electoral rolls and conduct the elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Port Blair Municipal Council in the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands under the guidance, superintendence, direction and control of the Common Election Commission for UTs and functions just like as the Chief Electoral Officer under the Election Commission of India.
