The Chief Electoral Officer (Panchayat Elections), Lakshadweep supervises the preparation of electoral rolls and conduct the elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions in the UT of Lakshadweep under the guidance, superintendence, direction and control of the Election Commission for UTs and functions just like the Chief Electoral Officer under the Election Commission of India. The Chief Electoral Officer (Panchayat Elections) is appointed by the Election Commission for UTs in consultation with the Administrator of Lakshadweep, in exercise of the powers vested under Rule 9 framed under the Lakshadweep (Election to Panchayats) Rules, 1995.
